Levels of Understanding

This is to provide an understanding of differences between Mundane and Magikal properties of particular objects worn or used by members of the Craft. I will give you one example - in using an amber bead of a specific size and shape. What is there to know about this bead ...... a few answers:

Physical Characteristics are all measured from known standards based on Industrial [resins, lipstick, etc... ] applications for mundane purposes:

• temperature and thermal expansion characteristics,
• thermal conductivity or non conductivity,
• optical characteristics [bright, dull, color, clarity, opaque, etc.]
• electrical conductivity or non conductivity,
• organic ... nonorganic [or both],
• magnetic [ferromagnetic, paramagnetic] or non-magnetic properties,
• audio conductivity or non conductivity,
• crystalline or non crystalline structure,
• weight [density],

Spiritual Characteristics though are judged on perception of the physical as well as magical properties:

• beauty,
• purity,
• scent,
• or simply as an ornamental decoration

or it may be used as a focus of energy for purposes of:

• scrying or divination (prophecy),
• or as a charged amulet or talisman for defense or protection.

There may also be constant changes to the bead [due to the effects of time as well as internal and external influences] on an atomic level. These differences may be considered detrimental for mundane physical purposes, whereas for spiritual and magical purposes the beads value will actually increase
